Percutane zuurstofsaturatiemeting

Samenvatting

De percutane zuurstofsaturatiemeting (pulsoxymetrie) geeft een niet-invasieve indicatie van de cardiorespiratoire toestand van de patiënt. Hoewel er nog weinig onderzoek is gedaan naar de meerwaarde van de percutane zuurstofsaturatiemeter in de huisartsenpraktijk, is het gebruik ervan inmiddels niet meer weg te denken. ¹ Huisartsen geven aan dat de saturatiemeter gebruikt wordt bij vele indicaties in acute en niet-acute situaties. ² Bij bijvoorbeeld exacerbaties van obstructieve longziekten, bij ernstige pneumonie, bronchiolitis, longembolie of hartfalen kunnen zuurstoftransport en gaswisseling in de weefsels tekortschieten.
