Mictieklachten bij oudere mannen: luts

Samenvatting

Lower urinary tract symptoms (luts) zijn een bij oudere mannen veelvoorkomend probleem. Naast de in de nhg-standaard behandelde anamnese en lichamelijk onderzoek, heeft de huisarts de mogelijkheid om een beter inzicht te krijgen in de aard en de ernst van de klachten door het gebruik van klachtenscore, mictiedagboek en eenvoudige flowmetrie. Deze aanvullende onderzoeken worden hier besproken. Vervolgens zal de huisarts in overleg met de patiënt kiezen voor een afwachtend beleid, medicamenteuze therapie of verwijzing naar een urologisch specialist. De huidige therapiemogelijkheden, zowel medicamenteus, minimaal invasief als chirurgisch zullen kort worden behandeld.
