Een pleidooi voor bruikbaarheidsonderzoek

Over de effecten van behandelingen in de praktijk van de jeugdzorg weten we weinig tot niets. Wetenschappelijk onderzoek heeft zich vooral beziggehouden met het evalueren van behandelingen in een gecontroleerde laboratoriumsituatie. Het liet daar bevredigende uitkomsten zien. Onderzoek in de praktijk komt weinig voor. Als het er al is, blijken de effecten minimaal. Dat betekent niet dat men in de praktijk van de jeugdzorg niet effectief zou werken; de effectiviteit is alleen nog onvoldoende zichtbaar gemaakt. Echter, door de interne behoefte aan professionalisering en de externe druk tot profilering is de tijd hiervoor rijp. Praktijkgericht ‘effectiveness’-onderzoek lijkt voor dit doel meer geschikt dan experimenteel ‘efficacy’-onderzoek. Dit bruikbaarheidsonderzoek wordt toegelicht en geplaatst in de huidige context van kwaliteitszorg.
