Levercirrose

Samenvatting

Cirrose is een diffuus leverproces gekenmerkt door fibrose en vorming van regeneratienodulen. De wereldwijde prevalentie is ongeveer 100/100.000 inwoners. De frequentste oorzaken zijn chronische hepatitis B en C, alcoholisch leverlijden, en nu ook niet-alcoholische streatohepatitis. Een cirrose kan lange tijd gecompenseerd blijven; wanneer zich verwikkelingen voordoen zoals varices, ascites, icterus of hepatocellulair carcinoom spreekt men van een gedecompenseerde cirrose en is de prognose sterk verminderd. Deze bijdrage gaat in op de diagnosestelling en prognosebepaling bij patiënten met cirrose. Ten slotte worden enkele specifieke elementen van behandeling en opvolging besproken.
