Samenvatting

Een 59-jarige vrouw was gewend om twee keer per week in het bos te gaan hardlopen. Toen zij besloot om op de verharde weg te gaan lopen, ontstond al snel hielpijn. Dit hoofdstuk beschrijft allerlei oorzaken van hielpijn, de symptomen ervan en de betekenis van een hielspoor voor het al of niet ontstaan van hielpijn. In bijna alle gevallen is de therapie gericht op het voorkomen van piekbelasting op de hiel tijdens hardlopen. Er worden verschillende mogelijkheden besproken om door verandering van de looptechniek de belasting op de hiel te verminderen.
