6. Hamstringblessure

Samenvatting

Bij het sprinten naar de bal voelde een 56-jarige voetballer een hevige pijnscheut aan de achterkant van zijn bovenbeen. Er blijkt sprake te zijn van een acute spierscheur in de hamstrings. Onder voetballers is de hamstringblessure berucht. Dat komt doordat het letsel traag geneest en vaak recidiveert. Het hoofdstuk beschrijft een karakteristieke casus, de oorzaken, risicofactoren, prognose, therapie en diverse oefeningen die gebruikt kunnen worden om deze veelvoorkomende blessure te behandelen en recidivering te voorkomen.
