Abstract

De craniofaciale ontwikkeling is een van de meest complexe gebeurtenissen gedurende de embryogenese. Craniofaciale afwijkingen zijn verantwoordelijk voor een derde van alle congenitale afwijkingen bij de mens. Door de snelle ontwikkeling van de moleculaire genetica is voor sommige craniofaciale afwijkingen de genetische basis duidelijk geworden.
