Eerste resultaten van MRI-fusiebiopten in een groot perifeer ziekenhuis

Samenvatting

Achtergrond:

MRI-fusiebiopten maken het mogelijk om gericht te biopteren uit afwijkingen die zijn gezien op een MRI-scan. Deze door de FDA goedgekeurde techniek is eenvoudig toepasbaar met weinig aanvullende materialen.

Doel:

Het doel van dit onderzoek was om de eerste resultaten te evalueren van de recente implementatie van een dergelijke MRI-fusie in ons ziekenhuis.

Methode:

73 patiënten met een afwijkende multiparametrische MRI ondergingen fusiebiopten (FB) voor diverse indicaties. Bij 55 patiënten zijn daarnaast ook standaard protocollaire prostaatbiopten afgenomen.

Resultaten:

Bij 41 patiënten (56,2%) werd prostaatcarcinoom in de biopten aangetroffen. FB en standaardbiopten (SB) waren beide positief bij 33 van de 55 patiënten (60%). Zeven (12,7%) patiënten hadden alleen positieve FB, van wie zes patiënten met ten minste Gleason-score 7. Gemiddelde tumorlengte en percentage positieve biopten was hoger in FB dan in SB (p = 0,000).

Conclusie:

FB lijken in ons ziekenhuis de nauwkeurigheid van detectie van prostaatcarcinoom te vergroten. Dit lijkt dus een veelbelovende toevoeging in de diagnostiek van prostaatcarcinoom in de dagelijkse praktijk.
