24. EEG op de intensive care

Inleiding

Op een (neuro-)intensive care bestaan vele risico’s voor het centrale en perifere zenuwstelsel, waaronder ischemie en insulten. De klinische beoordeling van neurologische functies van patiënten op de intensive care (IC) is echter over het algemeen zeer beperkt, doordat patiënten vaak gesedeerd en beademd zijn. Daarnaast is deze (beperkte) klinische beoordeling intermitterend, met tussenpozen van vaak uren, waarbij de tijdschaal waarop zich neurologische veranderingen kunnen voordoen veel korter is, soms zelfs minuten.

Wiskundig geldt voor een periodiek signaal dat x(t+T)=x(t) voor elke keuze van t (je kunt op elk begintijdstip starten, het signaal herhaalt zich na een tijdsduur T) waar geldt dat de minimale waarde van T waarvoor dit waar is, de periode is van het periodieke signaal.
