Everyone wants to grow old but nobody wants to be old, because old age is accompanied by ailments. Life expectancy is rising, but it increases faster than the number of years we spend in good health. There are no life-extending elixirs. And the application of stem cells to treat damaged cartilage or arteriosclerosis is still in the experimental stage. There is still little of old age that we can repair.
