The ability of the criminal justice system to identify and respond appropriately to autistic witnesses and suspects is crucial for protecting the rights of this potentially vulnerable group of individuals. Recognising this, a body of research is emerging that examines the training of the Police and Judicial Services in ASD and other neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as which examines some of the mediators of vulnerabilities among autistic people such as suggestibility and acquiescence.
