Abstract

Dit artikel geeft een overzicht van onderzoek naar de relatie tussen depressie en dementie. Geconcludeerd wordt dat het zinvol isdepressiesymptomen van patiënten met dementie te onderscheiden in stemmings- en motivatiesymptomen. Er zijn aanwijzingen dat beide groepen depressiesymptomen niet alleen verschillen in etiologie, maar ook in hun relaties met ernst en prognose van de dementie.
