Diagnostiek van dementie door de huisarts

Abstract

De huisarts is meestal de eerste hulpverlener op wie patiënten met dementie of hun familieleden een beroep doen. De huisarts speelt daarom een belangrijke rol bij het herkennen van patiënten met mogelijke dementie, zowel wat het stellen van de diagnose als wat het initiëren van medische actie of begeleiding betreft.

 Odds ratio: begrip uit de medische statistiek. Neem een aantal van tien mensen van wie er een ziek is, dan is volgens de ‘gewone’ statistiek 9/10 niet ziek. In de medische statistiek echter is 8/9 niet ziek (10 − 1 is negen).
