De resteffecten van het slavernijverleden: een Delphi-studie

Samenvatting

Als gevolg van de slavernij en de nasleep daarvan is de Afrikaans-Amerikaanse gemeenschap met een aantal uitdagingen geconfronteerd die uniek zijn voor deze groep. Hoewel hierover in andere vakgebieden wel literatuur bestaat, is binnen de gezins- en relatietherapieliteratuur nog geen empirisch onderzoek gepubliceerd waarin de resteffecten van het slavernijverleden zijn onderzocht. Wij hebben een aangepaste Delphi-methodologie gebruikt om de resteffecten van het slavernijverleden op Afro-Amerikanen te onderzoeken en te bepalen wat voor klinische implicaties daaruit voortvloeien. Om informatie te krijgen van panelleden met expertise op dit gebied, hielden we drie rondes van gegevensverzameling: een vragenlijst met open vragen, een vragenlijst met items op een Likertschaal en een ronde diepte-interviews. Op basis van onze analyse van de verzamelde gegevens beschrijft dit empirische onderzoek de invloed van de resteffecten van het slavernijverleden, implicaties voor hulpverleners en richtingen voor toekomstig onderzoek.
