Samenvatting

De anesthesioloog wordt frequent geconfronteerd met patiënten met een nierfunctiestoornis. De stoornis kan lang bestaand zijn en dialyse vereisen, maar zich ook uiten als een oligurie als complicatie van een recente aandoening of tijdens een chirurgische ingreep. De nierfunctie bepaalt mede het anesthesiebeleid; door hierop te anticiperen kan de anesthesioloog renale schade voorkomen of beperken. Hiervoor is grondige kennis van de pathofysiologische mechanismen van nierfunctiestoornissen noodzakelijk.
