Cognitieve stoornissen na chronische blootstelling aan organische oplosmiddelen

Abstract

Zowel in recreationele als beroepsmatige situaties komen mensen in aanraking met mengsels van organische oplosmiddelen. Deze mengsels bevinden zich in een groot aantal huishoudelijke en industriële producten, waaronder verf, ontvetters, inkt, lijm en schoonmaakproducten (Ryan et al., 1988). Alleen al in Nederland werken meer dan honderdduizend mensen beroepsmatig dagelijks met verschillende soorten organische oplosmiddelen (Ganzevles & Houx, 1997), onder wie huisschilders, verfspuiters, drukkers en vloerleggers. Ook in de grafische- en metaalindustrieën en in stomerijen wordt veel gebruikgemaakt van deze middelen (Kishi et al, 2000).
