12. Chronische pijn: motivatie door pijneducatie

Samenvatting

Veel patiënten met chronische pijn bezoeken de fysiotherapeut. Chronische pijn is een lastige klacht, omdat er niet alleen sprake is van somatische factoren die de klacht onderhouden, maar ook van psychologische en sociale factoren. Een van die factoren is de ziekteperceptie van de patiënt. Alvorens een patiënt met chronische pijn pijneducatie te geven en een behandeling te starten is het bevragen van de ziektepercepties van belang. Hiermee kan ook een indruk worden verkregen van de motivatie van een patiënt. Dit proces van bevragen en het geven van pijneducatie wordt toegelicht in dit hoofdstuk.
