Chlamydia trachomatis-pneumonie kort na de geboorte

Een voorbeeld van atypisch verlopende luchtweginfecties bij de neonaat

Samenvatting

Infectie door Chlamydia trachomatis is de meest voorkomende seksueel overdraagbare aandoening. Maternale infectie tijdens de zwangerschap kan leiden tot prematuriteit en perinatale morbiditeit. Perinatale infectie leidt meestal tot neonatale conjunctivitis of pneumonie met een mild beloop, optredend enkele weken na de geboorte. Door intra-uteriene besmetting kunnen echter kort na de geboorte al respiratoire problemen optreden met een atypisch begin en een gecompliceerd beloop. In deze casus beschrijven wij een prematuur geboren neonaat met respiratoir falen ten gevolge van Chlamydia trachomatis-pneumonie. Tijdige diagnostiek naar atypische verwekkers en empirische behandeling zijn belangrijk bij neonaten met onverklaarde respiratoire problemen ter voorkoming van ernstige complicaties.
