Samenvatting

T4 (tetrajoodthyroxine) is een prohormoon, dat bestaat uit twee gekoppelde benzeenringen. T4 wordt door een goed functionerende schildklier gemaakt en opgeslagen, mits er voldoende aanbod van jodium is. Het hypofysehormoon TSH reguleert de biosynthese van T4, en geeft ook het signaal om T4 uit te scheiden in de bloedbaan.
