In Online Health and Safety: From Cyberbullying to Internet Addiction, Bernadette Schell details the current challenges and concerns regarding Internet’s beneficial yet pervasive influence on society. The author analyzes the online issues that involve harm to persons—such as addictions, cyberbullying and cyberstalking, online predation, as well as network hacks and identity frauds—and then turns to the macro-system concerns on online health and safety—detailing issues that arise in social media, copyright and file sharing, obscene content and online censorship, and in online medical records. The author’s consistent message throughout each section is to inform readers of the risks, possible solutions, and areas needing further research. Each chapter is packed with current research, case studies, and interviews with experts; all of which contributes to the importance and immediacy of understanding the Internet’s impact and incorporating suggested next steps. …
