Samenvatting

De behandeling richt zich in eerste instantie op traumaverwerking. Een goede voorbereiding kan bijdragen aan het gevoel van veiligheid, vertrouwen, de motivatie en het goed verlopen van de traumabehandeling. Voorafgaand aan de behandeling spreek je af hoe je met je cliënt tijdens de traumabehandeling dissociatie zult hanteren. Activatie is het sleutelwoord. Zodra je signaleert dat iemand gaat dissociëren, kun je met verbale, motorische of zintuigelijke activatie iemand binnen de optimale bandbreedte van het Tolerantievenster houden of terugbrengen. Je zult merken dat iemand gaandeweg de traumabehandeling meer controle gaat ervaren over dissociatie. De traumabehandeling zelf heeft eveneens een positieve invloed op de emotieregulatie van de cliënt. Naarmate iemand de oorzaak van de klachten heeft verwerkt, vervalt de noodzaak tot dissociatie en ervaart hij meer grip.
