Samenvatting

Aangezien de kwaliteit van knieprothesen steeds verder toeneemt, is men ook geneigd om ze te plaatsen bij steeds jongere patiënten. Dit heeft als consequentie dat de prothese niet alleen langer mee moet gaan, maar ook grotere krachten te verwerken krijgt. Relatief jonge patiënten beoefenen vaak nog een beroep en willen daarbij ook nog sporten. De vraag is of de prothese deze relatief hoge belasting aankan en of dit geen consequenties heeft voor de levensduur ervan. Dit addendum probeert hier meer duidelijkheid in te geven.
