5. Acute aspecifieke lagerugpijn: perceptie, prognose en prediction rules

Inleiding

Aspecifieke lagerugpijn is gelokaliseerd tussen de onderste costae en de inferieure bilplooien, met of zonder pijn in het been, en is niet toe te schrijven aan herkenbare, bekende specifieke pathologie of oorzaak, bijvoorbeeld infectie, tumor, osteoporose, ziekte van Bechterew, breuk, ontstekingsproces, radiculair syndroom of cauda equina syndroom (Waddell, 2004; Chavannes et al., 2005). De meeste patiënten ervaren hun eerste episode van aspecifieke lagerugklachten tussen de 20 en 55 jaar. In de Nederlandse bevolking bedraagt de jaarprevalentie 43,9 procent en de puntprevalentie 26,9 procent, met de hoogste prevalentie tussen de 45 en de 50 jaar (Picavet & Hazes, 2003). In de westerse geïndustrialiseerde landen is de ‘lifetime’-prevalentie 84 procent (Balagué, Mannion, Pellisé & Cedraschi, 2012).
