Samenvatting

Doel van het onderzoek van de vrouwelijke genitaliën is om zich een beeld te kunnen vormen van de toestand van de tractus genitalis van de vrouw. Door het gynaecologisch onderzoek is het mogelijk vulva, vagina, cervix, uterus, eileiders en ovaria te beoordelen. Zo kan de mogelijke aanwezigheid van bepaalde aandoeningen waarschijnlijk of minder waarschijnlijk gemaakt worden. Bovendien kan het onderzoek een rol spelen bij het evalueren van (gynaecologische oorzaken van) onderbuikklachten.
