Samenvatting

Specifieke immunotherapie met allergeenextracten is een vorm van therapie waarbij atopische patiënten in oplopende hoeveelheden allergeen krijgen toegediend. Doel van de behandeling is de patiënt minder gevoelig te maken voor het desbetreffende allergeen (= hyposensibilisatie). In tegenstelling tot medicamenteuze therapie zijn effecten van immunotherapie blijvend, ook na het staken van de behandeling.
