Over De Behandeling Van Een Vijftienjarige Jongen Met Hardnekkige Misselijkheid En Schoolverzuim

Psychische problemen zijn lang niet altijd de oorzaak van niet-verklaarde lichamelijke klachten. In dergelijke gevallen is een symptoomgerichte behandeling aangewezen. De vijftienjarige Gerik die vrijwel niet naar school ging omdat hij steeds misselijk was, werd behandeld volgens het Gevolgenmodel van Van Rood e.a. (2005) en door middel van het aanleren van coping. Daarnaast waren de inzet van psychologie-stagiaires en stugge volharding belangrijke ingrediënten. Toch had de behandeling maar gedeeltelijk succes. Had de therapeut iets anders kunnen of moeten doen?
