Samenvatting

Ongeveer 3-12% van de zwangere vrouwen over de gehele wereld heeft astma (1). De prevalentie zal de komende jaren toenemen, mede door de toegenomen aandacht voor de diagnostische criteria ervan (2). Verscheidene studies laten zien dat zwangere vrouwen met astma een verhoogd risico hebben op perinatale mortaliteit, (pre)eclampsie, vroeggeboorte, hypertensie, vaginaal bloedverlies en dysmaturiteit (3,4).
