3 Specifieke aspecten van cognitieve therapie

Samenvatting

In hoofdstuk 2 behandelden we de basisprincipes van een cognitieve therapie en het opsporen, uitdagen en bijstellen van automatische gedachten. In dit hoofdstuk gaan we allereerst in op de verschillende niveaus waarop cognities kunnen worden onderscheiden, en hoe cognities op het tweede niveau (de assumpties) kunnen worden opgespoord. De nadruk van dit hoofdstuk zal liggen op het beschrijven van een reeks technieken waarmee cognities op het eerste en tweede niveau kunnen worden uitgedaagd. Tevens zullen we aandacht besteden aan technieken die zijn ontwikkeld om specifieke problemen aan te pakken binnen een cognitieve methodiek: interpersoonlijke problemen door het werken met de therapeutische relatie, traumatische (jeugd)herinneringen door rollenspel, en bij intense emoties door middel van imaginatieoefeningen en het geven van psycho-educatie. We sluiten af met hoe veranderingen beklijven (maar zie hiervoor ook hoofdstuk 9 over terugvalpreventie) en het beëindigen van de cognitieve therapie.
