Samenvatting

Uit onvrede met bestaande psychotherapievormen ontstaat tussen 1955 en 1965 een nieuwe vorm van psychotherapie, de cognitieve therapie. Zowel Albert Ellis (1962) als Aaron Beck (1976) moeten worden gezien als de grondleggers van de ontwikkeling van deze nieuwe vorm van therapie. Beiden waren indertijd uitvoerig orthodox analytisch geschoold en waren werkzaam als psychoanalytici in de praktijk.
