Pulmonaal carcinoïd bij een tiener, zich presenterend als een persisterende verdichting op de thoraxfoto

Samenvatting

Een casus wordt beschreven van een meisje van 13 jaar dat zich presenteert met een persisterende solide beschaduwing op de thoraxfoto. Nadat twee jaar een expectatief beleid is gevoerd omdat het meisje niet of nauwelijks klachten had, bleek het uiteindelijk te gaan om een carcinoïd, waarvoor pneumonectomie noodzakelijk was. Bij kinderen met een persisterende solide schaduw op de thoraxfoto verdient een voortvarend diagnostisch en therapeutisch beleid de voorkeur boven een afwachtende houding.
