Psychotherapie en religie.

Een beschouwing aan de hand van Albert Ellis

Abstract

Psychotherapeuten zijn verdeeld als het gaat om de vraag naar een professionele houding tegenover religie in de therapeutische situatie. Ter illustratie hiervan worden veelal Freud en Jung ten tonele gevoerd. In dit artikel staat de grondlegger van de rationeel-emotieve therapie (RET), Albert Ellis, centraal. Aan de hand van een bespreking van zijn visie op religie en de problemen die met die visie verbonden zijn, worden overwegingen gegeven die de psychotherapeut kunnen helpen bij het zoeken naar een professionele houding bij religie in psychotherapie.
