7. Preventie oedeem

Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk wordt dieper ingegaan op secundaire preventie, met name preventie van oedeem na kanker en bij personen met afwijkingen van het veneus stelsel. Omdat het niet gemakkelijk is om preventieve maatregelen vol te houden, wordt eerst ingegaan op de factoren die het naleven van preventieve strategieën positief of negatief kunnen beïnvloeden. Vervolgens wordt de epidemiologie, risicofactoren en de detectie van arm/been-oedeem besproken. Daarna wordt – gebaseerd op wetenschappelijk bewijs – een duidelijk overzicht gegeven van de verschillende preventieve maatregelen die patiënten met risico op arm/been-oedeem dienen te nemen. Tot slot wordt besproken welke wetenschappelijk onderbouwde behandelingen bij de patiënt met risico op oedeem uitgevoerd dienen te worden. Wilt u weten wat de rol is van het informeren van de patiënt, het uitvoeren van oefeningen, manuele lymfedrainage en compressietherapie in de preventie van oedeem, dan dient u dit hoofdstuk zeker te lezen.
