14. Premenstrueel syndroom

Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk vindt u de kenmerken van het premenstrueel syndroom. Het zijn de cyclisch, premenstrueel optredende symptomen die u op het spoor zetten. Met hulpmiddelen als dagboek of vragenlijst zijn zowel de periodiek optredende lichamelijke als psychische symptomen vast te stellen. Aspecten die belangrijk zijn om het beeld te herkennen en om de diagnose aannemelijk te maken zullen worden besproken. Daarbij vindt u een stappenplan voor de behandeling wanneer u een premenstrueel syndroom vermoedt. Ook de aanbevolen medicamenteuze behandeling en het te verwachten effect komen aan bod. Van groot belang is de herkenning van het beeld en de erkenning van de gevolgen voor vrouwen die lijden aan premenstruele klachten.
