22. Pediatric condition falsification (PCF)

Inleiding

Baron von Münchhausenwas een 18e-eeuwse ruiter die vrienden onderhield met fantasierijke verhalen over zijn ervaringen op het slagveld in de strijd tussen Rusland en Turkije. Zijn vriend Raspe, publiceerde deze verhalen onder de titel The surprising adventures of baron Münchausen. In 1951 wordt voor het eerst het Münchhausen-syndroom (MS) in de medische literatuur beschreven.[1] Het MS is een psychiatrische stoornis waarbij de aangedane persoon symptomen verzint, vervalst of induceert om zo een ziekenrol te kunnen aannemen. In 1977 beschreef Meadow als eerste het Münchhausen-by-proxy-syndroom (MBPS)naar analogie van het Münchhausen-syndroom (MS).[2] Bij het MBPS worden deze gefalsificeerde symptomen naar voren gebracht door een ‘proxy’, iemand die dicht bij het kind staat, meestal de moeder. In 1987 presenteerde Rosenberg een serie van 117 casus, en zij hanteerde de volgende vier voorwaarden voor het stellen van de diagnose MBPS:[3]
