Samenvatting

Een 62-jarige vrouw krijgt in de loop van enkele jaren steeds vaker last van haar knie. De pijn wordt steeds gevoeld aan de voorzijde, vooral na belastende activiteiten. Hoofdstuk 6 begint met het verhaal van deze patiënte, gevolgd door de bevindingen van het onderzoek bij de fysiotherapeut. De symptomatologie is die van een klassieke patellofemorale artrose. De bespreking gaat dieper in op de oorzaken, risicofactoren en therapie van deze aandoening, die vooral bij de wat oudere patiënt voorkomt.

Een pasteuze zwelling wijst op verdikt gewrichtskapsel. Meestal is dit een gevolg van chronische irritatie van het gewricht.
