De gunstige resultaten van de grote hypertensietrials aan het eind van de vorige eeuw zijn duidelijk over de effectiviteit van hypertensiebehandeling bij ouderen.1,2 Omdat het absolute risico op cardiovasculaire events bij ouderen hoger ligt dan bij jongere mensen, is de individuele kans op profijt van een bloeddrukverlagende behandeling bij hen ook groter. Dit maakt het opsporen en behandelen in deze groep aantrekkelijk. …
