Samenvatting

Onderzoeken naar de effectiviteit van antibiotica bij de behandeling van urineweginfecties melden, onafhankelijk van de onderzochte middelen, vrijwel steeds genezingspercentages van meer dan 80%. Omdat de onderlinge vergelijkbaarheid van de diverse studies te wensen overlaat discrimineren de resultaten maar weinig. Deze onderzoeken spelen vooral een rol bij de bepaling van de duur van de therapie. De keuze van een antibioticum wordt in belangrijke mate bepaald door gegevens over de gevoeligheid van de veroorzakende micro-organismen.
