Mediale kniepijn bij een hardloper

Samenvatting

Bij het sporten, in het bijzonder bij hardlopen en springsporten zoals handbal of volleybal, zijn knieklachten een veel geziene blessure.¹ Knieklachten kunnen door een grote functionele invaliditeit, ziekteverzuim en claim op de ziektekosten tot gevolg hebben.²-⁵ In Nederlands onderzoek is gebleken dat de jaarlijkse prevalentie van knieklachten 19 tot 22% is en dat dit percentage toeneemt met de leeftijd.¹,⁶ De huisarts ziet een derde van de patiënten met deze klachten.⁶
