Samenvatting

Deze vraag berust op het idee: ‘roken leidt tot COPD’. Bij rokers, en zeker bij rokers met luchtwegsymptomen, wordt het zinvol geacht om onderzoek in te stellen naar COPD (1). Vervolgens rijst de vraag: kan ik er als arts van uitgaan dat niet-rokers geen COPD hebben. Dat zou nadere diagnostiek naar COPD overbodig zou maken.
