Is de ene therapeut beter dan de andere?

Een verkenning van therapeuteffecten in Nederland

Samenvatting

• Dit onderzoek richt zich op verschillen in effectiviteit tussen therapeuten in Nederland en op therapeutfactoren die deze verschillen in effectiviteit kunnen verklaren. Bij een groep van zestien therapeuten werd de behandeleffectiviteit bepaald. De therapeuten werden verdeeld in ‘meest effectieve’ en ‘minst effectieve’ therapeuten, waarbij de meest effectieve een significant grotere mate van verbetering hadden op klachtniveau dan de minst effectieve. Sekse, leeftijd, aantal jaren werkervaring, discipline, referentiekader, zelfvertrouwen in het algemeen en vertrouwen in de competenties als therapeut konden dit verschil in effectiviteit niet verklaren. Er bleek een (negatief) significante samenhang te zijn tussen de mate van verbetering en vertrouwen in de eigen competenties als therapeut. Implicaties, beperkingen en suggesties voor vervolgonderzoek worden besproken.
