Samenvatting

Atriumfibrilleren is een belangrijke risicofactor voor herseninfarcten. Patiënten met niet-reumatisch atriumfibrilleren hebben een circa vijf maal hogere kans op een herseninfarct dan patiënten zonder atriumfibrilleren. Een recent onderzoek bij patiënten met een herseninfarct toonde tevens aan dat bij gelijktijdige aanwezigheid van atriumfibrilleren
