Samenvatting

De bevolking in achterstandswijken is samengesteld uit verschillende etnische groeperingen met een lage sociaaleconomi-sche status. Het is bekend dat die een verhoogd risico hebben om cardiovasculaire aandoeningen (CA) te ontwikkelen.2,3 Huisartspraktijken in achterstandswijken ervaren een hoge werkdruk en een tekort aan ondersteunend personeel waardoor een effectieve benadering en preventie van CA moeilijk zijn.4 Verder benadrukken de auteurs dat culturele barrières en taalbarrières tussen medewerkers in de eerste lijn (in het bijzonder de huisarts) de communicatie met de patiënt belemmeren
