Individuele motivationele cliëntgerichte psychotherapie met drugsgebruikers

Abstract

In dit artikel wordt een individuele, ambulante en cliëntgerichte vorm van psychotherapie met drugsgebruikers voorgesteld. Om werkzaam te zijn bij die doelgroep wordt de cliëntgerichte methodiek in bepaalde opzichten aangepast. Het motivationele gespreksmodel van Miller en het draaideurmodel van verandering van Prochaska en DiClementi fungeren daarbij als inspiratiebron. Eerst wordt ingegaan op de mogelijkheden van individuele psychotherapie bij drugsgebruikers via een beknopt overzicht van de relevante literatuur. Na een korte beschrijving van de werksetting en cliëntenpopulatie wordt een model van individuele motivationele cliëntgerichte psychotherapie uiteengezet. Dat gebeurt door aandachtspunten te accentueren die de cliëntgerichte therapeut indachtig zal moeten zijn als hij werkt met drugsgebruikers. Tot slot volgt het verhaal van Roel: een casus waarin het model aan de hand van de concrete praktijk wordt toegelicht.
