Abstract

De erectie en de ejaculatie behoren tot de typische kenmerken van de mannelijke seksualiteit. In de afgelopen decennia is in klinisch en preklinisch wetenschappelijk onderzoek in toenemende mate aandacht besteed aan het mechanisme van deze seksuele functies. Vooral de laatste jaren is men veel te weten gekomen over de perifere zenuwen die de verschillende genitale organen innerveren. Naar de betrokkenheid van het centrale zenuwstelsel (hersenen, hersenstam en ruggenmerg) bij de verschillende seksuele functies heeft men echter veel minder onderzoek gedaan.
