Samenvatting

Na een herseninfarct of -bloeding kan iemand moeilijker lopen en eerder vallen, met alle gevolgen van dien: immobiliteit en fracturen. Het behandelarsenaal omvat sinds kort naast de bekende orthesen ook (implanteerbare) elektrostimulatoren. Prof. dr. A.C.H. (Sander) Geurts, hoogleraar revalidatiegeneeskunde en hoofd van de afdeling Revalidatie in het UMC St Radboud, geeft uitleg over de huidige stand van zaken.
