Samenvatting

Ongeveer 30 procent van de patiënten in algemene ziekenhuizen lijdt aan een of meer klinisch relevante psychiatrische comorbiditeiten.2,3) Dergelijke patiënten zijn in hoge mate in hun functioneren beperkt4,5), verblijven langer in het ziekenhuis4,6), maken meer gebruik van gezondheidszorgvoorzieningen4,7), hebben een slechtere response op medische behandeling8,9) en hebben een verlaagde kwaliteit van leven, ongeacht de ernst van hun ziekte10).
