Mindfulness has ancient roots, but has recently taken hold in the West. The pace of expansion of mindfulness in the Western World has picked up in the last two decades, is ubiquitous, and continues to rise rapidly. There is an avalanche of research (not all well done, I might add) touting its benefits, and media hyping its use. In a recent survey, psychologists had rated mindfulness meditation to be the number one trending topic of the future. However, it appears that most teachers, coaches, and clinicians do not have a comprehensive grasp of mindfulness as taught by Buddha, and coherently laid out in Buddhism. …
