3. De rol van de huisarts

Samenvatting

De rol van de huisarts in de zorg voor mensen met kanker is in ontwikkeling. Van een ad-hocbereikbaarheid voor vragen en op eigen initiatief contact met de patiënt opnemen, gaat het naar een rol bij de keuze voor de behandeling via het ‘time-outconsult’ en het overnemen van controles in de nazorg van de meest voorkomende vormen van kanker. Dit met het behoud van ad-hocbereikbaarheid en belangstelling voor het wel en wee van de patiënt, zaken die voor de patiënt van wezenlijk belang zijn. Deze ontwikkeling past uitstekend in de kernwaarden van de huisartsgeneeskunde: het verlenen van continue, persoonsgerichte en generalistische zorg.
