Samenvatting

In dit hoofdstuk wordt beschreven hoe het ongecompliceerde baringsproces verloopt en welke factoren daarop van invloed zijn. Achtereenvolgens komen aan de orde:
  • anatomie van het baringskanaal en de foetale schedel;
  • fysiologische en biochemische processen die de baring in gang zetten en doorzetten;
  • plaats van de bevalling;
  • begeleiding van de barende en de bewaking van het kind tijdens de ontsluiting en de uitdrijving;
  • nageboortetijdperk en observatie van moeder en kind de eerste uren post partum.
