De huisarts en het vallen van patiënten in het verzorgingshuis

Samenvatting

Vallen bij ouderen is een probleem: per jaar valt eenderde tot de helft van alle ouderen boven de 65. In verzorgingshuizen wordt nog vaker gevallen. In één op de tien gevallen leidt vallen tot letsel, in één op de twintig tot een fractuur. In vier van de vijf gevallen weet de huisarts er niet van. De vraag wat er aan te voorkomen zou zijn geweest wordt daarom vaak pas achteraf gesteld.1,2 Dat geldt in dit geval ook voor mijzelf.
